Abstract and conceptual photography, though usually placed together, are two very different approaches. Abstract images can be defined as work that is not immediately recognizable as a particular object - an image that exists for it's own sake. The viewers are left to decide for themselves what the meaning of the picture is.
Conceptual imagery tends to be representative of something more than the object shown - an attempt to illustrate an idea.
